A shared commitment to data-driven action for land, people and resilience

The OSS is pleased to announce it has been selected as a regional Support Hub for Reporting to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) to support countries in their reporting on the Sustainable Development Goal’s indicator 15.3.1.

This framework will strengthen the collaboration aiming at harnessing Earth Observation data and technologies to accelerate progress toward achieving land degradation neutrality, while strengthening evidence-based policymaking and enhancing the capacity of African countries for land degradation and drought reporting and monitoring.

By integrating advanced data analytics, digital innovation and technical capacity building, both institutions will make sure that land and drought-related decisions are grounded in high-quality, timely and relevant information.

This partnership will also serve the implementation of activities related to the Great Green Wall Initiative as well as land restoration and drought resilience in Africa.
