OSS Side event, May 16, 2022

The OSS, present at COP15, will be holding its side event on “strengthening the reporting systems to achieve land degradation neutrality”, on May 16, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the RIO Pavilion - MET 14.

The purpose of the event will be to highlight the importance of Earth Observation data for monitoring land degradation and to provide decision-makers and populations with relevant information on the state of the resources and to track the results and impacts.

It will also aim at alerting key players involved in the land-degradation data reporting, identification and analysis process and having their capacities built.

The OSS is playing an important role thanks to the programs and projects implemented in the circum-Saharan region. These initiatives include the development of cost-effective methods and tools for assessing land degradation in the region.
