Virtual meeting between the OSS and the FAO Sub-Regional Office for North Africa, February 7, 2023.

Taking their long-standing partnership, the two institutions welcomed their cooperation and restated their desire to have it reinforced for the benefit of the African countries.

During this meeting, the OSS and FAO representatives defined the prospects for merging their strategic visions and agreed to focus their collaboration on environmental monitoring, natural resource management , the promotion of digitalization and entrepreneurship issues, and the Sustainable Development Goals, in particular SDGs 2, 6, 12 and 15) indicators monitoring.

Mr. Nabil Ben Khatra, OSS Executive Secretary, and Mr. Philippe Ankers, Coordinator of the Sub-Regional Office for North Africa, agreed to promote the institutional bonds between the OSS and the FAO and to consolidate their collaboration with a view to upgrading Earth Observation services and products in support of decision-making in terms of food security and sustainable natural resource management and monitoring.

The GMES&Africa project objectives and achievements will thus be fully enhanced thanks to this collaboration.
