Case Overview

In January 2022, a complaint was filed following the vandalism of concrete pillars installed in Kabale District, Uganda, under the EURECCCA project. The perpetrator was apprehended by local police; however, reports indicate the individual was allegedly subjected to physical assault prior to being transferred to authorities.

Under OSS’s agreement with local authorities, jurisdiction for resolving criminal grievances lies with local institutions. Thus, responsibility for addressing the complaint shifted to these authorities, while the GCGHU maintained oversight by monitoring progress through regular communication.

By January 2023, the matter was resolved via a negotiated settlement and the case was closed.
