World Wetlands Day (WWD) on "Wetlands and Water", February 2, 2021

The World Wetlands Day (WWD) is celebrated every year on the 2nd of February to commemorate the signing of the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands in 1971.

Within the framework of the projects it carries out, the OSS gives an ever-growing importance to wetlands, as environments providing shelter to countless species of plants and animals producing valuable assets to man: Water and Food. The fragility of these ecosystems calls for the development of tools to analyse their vulnerabilities and have them valued.

The ecosystem natural capital accounting developed by the OSS as part of the Copernicea project, with the AFD support and the partnership of six countries, will no-doubt make it possible to improve the consideration of wetlands that provide goods & services.
