As part of the first supervision mission of the #AdaptWAP project, the OSS delegation, led by Mrs. Khaoula JAOUI, Climate Department Coordinator and Project Implementation Manager and the OSS experts MM. Louis Evence ZOUNGRANA and Aziz BELHAMRA paid Burkina Faso a working visit and was received on June 18, 2021 by H.E. Mr. Siméon SAWADOGO, Minister of the Environment, Green Economy and Climate Change along with the national project management entity, led by Mr. Benoît DOAMBA, Director General of the National Office of Protected Areas (OFINAP) and Coordinator of the ADAPT-WAP project in Burkina Faso.
The OSS is the implementing Entity of the AdaptWAP project with the Adaptation Fund (AF) funding, over a 4-year period (2020-2024). This project is being implemented in Benin, Burkina Faso and Niger. It aims to strengthen the resilience of ecosystems to climate change and improve the livelihoods of populations through the establishment of a multi-risk early warning system and the implementation of concrete adaptation measures.
The discussions held during this visit mainly focused on the AdaptWAP project implementation progress and on the new collaboration possibilities between Burkina Faso and the OSS, within the framework of future projects, currently under development.
