The Sahara and Sahel Observatory (OSS) organized, in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Livestock, responsible for Fishing Resources of Djibouti & the GWPEA / ICPAC, a virtual workshop for the "Strengthening Drought Resilience of Small Farmers & Pastoralists in the IGAD region - DRESS-EA" project kick-off.
The event was held on July 27, 2021 with the presence of the OSS Executive Secretary, Mr Nabil Ben Khatra, the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Livestock, Responsible for Fishing Resources, H.E. Mr Mohamed Ahmed Awaleh, the OSS Climate Department Coordinator, Mrs Khaoula Jaoui & the GWPEA Project Manager, Mr Gerald Isiko Kairu.
The OSS Executive Secretary highlighted the spirit of partnership with GWPEA / ICPAC in this long-term work to provide support for the countries of the region. He also restated the OSS commitment for a deeper collaboration with the Republic of Djibouti, an OSS member country, through the implementation of the DRESS-EA project in the IGAD region (Djibouti, Kenya, Sudan, & Uganda).
H.E. the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Livestock, Responsible for Fishing Resources took the event to congratulate the participants & all those who contributed to the development of this project. Moreover, he emphasized the importance of the DRESS-EA project in the fight against the effects of climate change, particularly drought.
It is worth reminding that the DRESS-EA Project is a 4-year project, funded by the Adaptation Fund (AF). It is implemented with the participation of the Global Water Partnership in East Africa (GWPEA) & the Global Water Partnership in South Africa-Nonprofit Institution (GWPSA-NPC).
