Mr. Nabil Ben Khatra, Executive Secretary of the Sahara and Sahel Observatory (OSS) currently in Glasgow on the occasion of CoP26 took part this afternoon, as moderator, in the ministerial discussion panel on the Great Green Wall on “Promoting Transformational Change to accelerate the implementation of the Great Green Wall initiative”.

On this occasion, Mr. Ben Khatra delivered the opening speech during which he highlighted the progress made in the implementation of the GGW before introducing the participants and channelling the discussions.

This high-level discussion brought together the Environment Ministers of Ireland, Mali, Senegal and Nigeria as well as representatives of the PAAGGW, GCF, UNCCD, GEF, IFAD,and UNEP and gave the opportunity to present the latest financial commitments made at the 'One Planet' Summit in January 2021 and to emphasize the role of the GGW countries in transforming pledges of international support into an impactful reality.
