OSS at COP20 UNFCCC

An OSS delegation is currently taking part in the 20th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP20 to UNFCCC), which opened in the capital of Peru, Lima, on 1 December and will continue through 12 December 2014.

OSS has observer status in the UNFCCC. In addition to organizing a side-event, OSS will be welcoming delegates to its information booth throughout the conference.

Welcome to the OSS information booth

The booth provides information on the organization’s work in the Sahara and Sahel region, with a focus on climate-related themes.  It also serves as a contact point for COP 20 delegates, notably those representing OSS member countries.

Side-event: “Water security and climate-resilient development”  - Wednesday, 10 December 2014, 3:00 – 4:30 PM, Room 4

OSS, in collaboration with the Global Water Partnership (GWP), will organize a side-event on climate resilient development and water security. The event will bring together representatives of the African Ministers’ Council on Water (AMCOW) and the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) who have developed a common strategic framework on investment in water security for growth and development.

The OSS presentation will also highlight innovative technical solutions for efficient and resilient water use and management in the North-Western Sahara Aquifer System basin.
